Drawing 4-Pfaffian graphs on the torus

چکیده
We say that a graph G is k-Pfaffian if the generating function of its perfect matchings can be expressed as a linear combination of Pfaffians of k matrices corresponding to orientations of G. We prove that 3-Pfaffian graphs are 1-Pfaffian, 5-Pfaffian graphs are 4-Pfaffian and that a graph is 4-Pfaffian if and only if it can be drawn on the torus (possibly with crossings) so that every perfect matching intersects itself an even number of times. We state conjectures and prove partial results for k > 5.

Drawing Pfaffian Graphs
We prove that a graph is Pfaffian if and only if it can be drawn in the plane (possibly with crossings) so that every perfect matching intersects itself an even number of times.
متن کاملDrawing a disconnected graph on the torus
We study drawings of graphs on the torus with crossings allowed. A question posed in [4], specialized to the case of the torus, asks, whether for every disconnected graph there is a drawing in the torus with the minimal number of crossings, such that one of the graphs is drawn in a planar disc. We reduce the problem to an interesting question from the geometry of numbers and solve a special case.
متن کاملMatching signatures and Pfaffian graphs
We prove that every 4-Pfaffian that is not Pfaffian essentially has a unique signature matrix. We also give a simple composition Theorem of 2r-Pfaffian graphs from r Pfaffian spanning subgraphs. We apply these results and exhibit a graph that is 6-Pfaffian but not 4-Pfaffian. This is a counter-example to a conjecture of Norine [5], which states that if a graph G is k-Pfaffian but not (k − 1)-Pf...
متن کاملUpper Bounds for Perfect Matchings in Pfaffian and Planar Graphs
We give upper bounds on weighted perfect matchings in Pfaffian graphs. These upper bounds are better than generalized Bregman’s inequality. We show that some of our upper bounds are sharp for 3 and 4-regular Pfaffian graphs. We apply our results to fullerene graphs.
متن کاملMinimally non-Pfaffian graphs
We consider the question of characterizing Pfaffian graphs. We exhibit an infinite family of non-Pfaffian graphs minimal with respect to the matching minor relation. This is in sharp contrast with the bipartite case, as Little [7] proved that every bipartite non-Pfaffian graph contains a matching minor isomorphic to K3,3. We relax the notion of a matching minor and conjecture that there are onl...
